Also known as White Camphor, this oil has a pungent, vaporous aroma that can clear the sinuses. Used topically to relieve pain. It is reportedly beneficial for skin irritations, with research indicating that it may help relieve itching, dermatitis and eczema. Not for open woulds.
It has a sharp, penetrating, cool, and medicinal aroma — intensely camphorous (as you'd expect!) with a clean, almost icy quality. Very powerful and immediately recognizable.
Use sparingly — it's a dominant oil that can easily take over a blend. It works best with other top notes like Eucalyptus or Peppermint, and middle notes like Rosemary or Lavender to soften its edge. Widely used in respiratory, muscle relief, and clarifying blends.
Camphor is one of the oils with extra safety considerations — it should be avoided during pregnancy and with young children, and kept at low dilution rates.Top Note
